All players must register before the start of the tournament.

The age categories for the 2025 tournament are as follows:

  • Category A up to 18 years old: born in 2007 or later
  • Category B up to 16 years old: born in 2009 or later
  • Category C up to 14 years old: born in 2011 or later
  • Category D up to 12 years old: born in 2013 or later
  • Category E up to 10 years old: born in 2015 or later
  • Category F up to 9 years old: born in 2016 or later
  • Category G up to 8 years old: born in 2017 or later
  • Category H up to 7 years old: born in 2018 or later

Championship and tickets NK Youth

The winners of the ONJK will receive the title of Open Youth Champion of the Netherlands 2025 or Open Girls’ Champion of the Netherlands 2025.
Dutch participants in groups A to H have the opportunity to obtain a ticket for the NK Jeugd 2025. The rules for this are as follows:
The players who finished as the highest Dutch players in the ONJK in categories A-1 to H-2 if they are in the top 3; also the players who finished as the highest Dutch players in their category in the tournament with combined categories F, G, and H in that year if they are in the top 3.

Playing tempo

In groups A to C, a ‘Fischer’ playing tempo is used. The time limit is 1.5 hours per person plus 30 seconds per move from the start of the game.The playing tempo in groups D and E is 40 minutes per person plus 30 seconds per move from the start of the game. The playing tempo in the FGH group is 25 minutes per person plus 10 seconds per move from the start of the game. This playing tempo applies to FGH youth in both tournaments.

Schedule and registration on the first day

See the program for the schedule. Registration on the opening day, July 31, is between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Participants will receive an email with a link to the digital registration form, which they can use until Friday at 11:00 a.m., so they don’t have to wait in line (open from July 30).

Prizes

Cash prizes will be available again this year. All prize winners will also receive the famous ONJK certificate.
*= If there are fewer than 12 participants in a group, the prize money will be halved.

Registration fee

Participants in groups A, B, C, D, and E pay €65 for the entire tournament.
Participants in the F, G, or H tournament pay €38.50.
Participants in the joint FGH tournament pay €38.50.
Participants in both the F, G, or H tournament and the joint FGH tournament receive a total discount of €10 and pay €65. It does not matter whether you register for both tournaments at the same time or decide to do so during the tournament.

Title holders (GM, WGM, IM, WIM, FM) who want to play in the A group do not have to pay a registration fee. Individual participants with a rating of 2200 or higher do not have to pay a registration fee if they register before July 1.

The registration fee can only be paid online. Invoices will be sent by email shortly after registration, or payment can be made directly online.

Rating processing

The results of the A, B, and C groups will be forwarded to FIDE. In addition, all results from all groups will be forwarded to the Royal Dutch Chess Federation (KNSB) for processing in the personal rating and/or youth rating.

If you would like the rating to be forwarded to another national chess federation, please contact the organization or the chief tournament director.
